Marine Shoreline Protection
The effects of storm surge and sea level rise threatens to increase erosive forces impacting marine shorelines, putting both property and sensitive shoreline habitat at risk. Our “softshore” style approach to shoreline protection and enhancement is proven to combat shoreline erosion and protect properties in a cost effective, attractive, and sustainable manner. This approach is favoured by DFO and municipal bylaws, and using these techniques can help to expedite the permitting process for project proponents. Our team also has experience obtaining Green Shores certification through the Stewardship Centre for BC. Learn more about Green Shores certification on the Stewardship Centre's website.
Types of marine shoreline protection vary from soft bioengineering techniques using large woody debris, such as tree stems with their roots attached, to a combination of rip-rap and woody debris along higher energy shorelines. All of our techniques focus on maintaining or enhancing the biological function of the shoreline while improving the use and enjoyment of the shoreline for homeowners or public users.
