The Streams Development

Design Support, Restoration, Environmental Impact Assessment & Monitoring

The Streams Development is a 49 unit single family and 46 unit multifamily residential development located on Arden Rd in the City of Courtenay. The design for this 11.2 Ha development included the design and construction of habitat offsetting measures (mainly riffle-pool structures complexed with large woody debris, fish passage improvements, and riparian planting), implementation of RAPR setbacks and protection of Environmentally Sensitive Areas through project design and the implementation of mitigation measures during construction. The creation of functional riffle-pool sequences has led to a dramatic increase in wetted rearing habitat for salmonids during summer low flow periods.
